Neurotransmitters
Natural chemicals that transfer messages from cell to cell, either along nerve cells, or from nerve cells to a muscle cells. Neurotransmitters fall into two categories, inhibitory (relaxative) or excitatory (stimulative).
They transmit the messages when they are released from axon terminals of one neuron call and combine with the receptor molecules of the next neuron cell. Neurotransmitters are important in controlling many aspects of daily bodily functions, which causes problem when they malfunction.
